5D4N Medan Lake Toba Ground Tour - Lake Toba is the largest lake in South East Asia and also one of the most spectacular ones, surrounded by high mountains and with the large island of Samosir situated in the middle of the lake. When we descend from the mountains we see the lake in all its beauty. The Dutch writer Rudy Kousbroek even called Lake Toba “the most beautiful place on earth”.

World famous is the crater lake Danau Toba in the Batak highlands, approximately five hours drive from Medan. There are two ways to go to Lake Toba from Medan. One way via Brastagi in the Karo highlands and the other route along the rubber and palm oil plantations and Pematang Siantar.

Lake Toba Tour  would not be complete without visit the Samosir island. Many visitors prefer to take the more scenic option and stay on this magnificent island.

The original home of the Batak Toba people, the island has many traces of history such as stone tombs and traditional villages, such as at Ambarita which has a courtyard with stone furniture where in the old days convicts were tried and beheaded. Or visit Simanindo where traditional Batak ritual dances and music are performed.

DAY 1 : FROM MEDAN TO LAKE TOBA

arrive at kuala namu international airport welcome by lake toba travel. stop at licensed money changer (optional). proceed to parapat lake toba for 5-6 hours drive. today you drive along endless palm tree, rubber and cacao plantations and through the historic city of pematang siantar. enroute stop at patent shop to to buy local food products such as teng teng or ting ting (optional on personal expenses). Lunch at local resto siantar. After lunch visining dewi kwam im temple. Continued to parapat/lake toba , a town on the shore of serene lake toba from where you cross over the lake to the island of samosir. check-in hotel. Hunting sunset at pantai bebas parapat. Dinner will be served at local resto

DAY 2 : FROM LAKE TOBA TO SAMOSIR

after breakfast at hotel, it’s time to explore this magnificent island by visitng tomok village to see the ancient tomb of king sidabutar, then visit ambarita village to see the famous stone chairs & execution place of king siallagan. the last visit is simanindo to enjoy the bataks traditional ritual dances of the bataks tribe. the rest is your own program, you can take a beautiful walk or ride a bicycle (optional) or take a rest in hotel.

DAY 3 : FROM LAKE TOBA TO BERASTAGI

after breakfast at hotel, back to parapat by ferry. continue to brastagi. enroute stop at simarjarunjung to enjoy ginger tea and fried bananas (personal expenses). stop at sipiso piso waterfall to see the magnificent 110 metres and an extraordinary view of lake toba from the north side. proceed to berastagi. upon arrival in brastagi, visit the central fruit market to buy tropical fruits, vegetables and flowers. check-in hotel.

DAY 4 : FROM BERASTAGI TO MEDAN

breakfast at hotel and proceed back to medan. visit shwedagon pagoda replica at taman alam lumbini. upon arrival in medan vis it wood gallery . you will have a chance to visit maimoon palace to see the palace of the sultan of deli which was built in 1888.  afternoon check-in hotel.  enjoy the warm atmosphere of merdeka walk, city hall and pos office at your own leisure. then transfer to hotel for overnight stay.

DAY 5 : FROM MEDAN TO KUALANAMU AIRPORT

after breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a full day shopping at pasar petisah (traditional market) and sun plaza (branded shops). afternoon transfer to the airport for your flight back to next destination.
